What that means in practice

The tours listed here are sold by Viator and GetYourGuide. When you follow a link from one of these pages and go on to book, the platform pays us a share of its own commission. You pay the same fare either way; the price on the booking page is the operator's price, not a marked-up one.

What we are not

We are not a tour operator. We do not run any of these tours, employ any of these guides or hold your booking. Your contract is with the operator, through the platform.

We have no connection with Kylemore Abbey, the Kylemore Trust or the Benedictine community, or with any of the places these tours stop at.

How tours get listed

Operators cannot pay for placement, position or a badge. A badge on a card is the platform's own, and we keep it only where the tour's figures support it: a Top rated badge stays only on a tour rated 4.9 or higher. Lally Tours and Galway Tour Company sell the same days on both platforms, so both listings appear, because each is separately bookable and priced.

The featured tours at the top of the homepage are three different ways to the abbey — a coach day with the ticket in the fare, the lowest fare with the ticket left to you, and a private car for your own group — each for a different kind of traveller.

Prices, ratings and how current they are

Prices, star ratings and review counts belong to the operators and were taken from their own listings on 17 September 2026. They move, and the figure at checkout is the one that counts. Everything is quoted in US dollars because that is the currency the listings were captured in; nothing is converted at an exchange rate. The coach days and the multi-day tours are priced per person. The private cars, and the 2-day private tour from Dublin, are priced per group.

Where we state a fact about the abbey, it comes from Kylemore Abbey's own website. That site does not answer automated requests, so its pages were read from dated copies held by the Internet Archive (web.archive.org), and each fact is dated in our notes. Climate figures are Met Éireann's 1991–2020 averages for Belmullet (met.ie), the nearest Atlantic station; the abbey's mountain valley is wetter. The summer talks programme is the one Connemara tourism (connemara.ie) published for 2025. Where a detail comes from an operator's listing, such as a meeting point, a group size or a stop, it belongs to that tour.

The abbey's own pages disagree with each other on a few dates, and we print the form both support: the house was "begun in 1867", when Margaret Henry laid the foundation stone, and the Duke of Manchester bought the estate "in the early 1900s".

What we deliberately do not publish

The estate's adult ticket price. The abbey's own ticket pages print no figure, and other websites disagree. The only figure we print is the one Galway Tour Company's listing gives for its own day, attributed to it.
Child, family and student prices, and whether children under 12 go free this year. Ask at the visitor centre.
A dated events and talks programme for 2026. Only the 2025 summer programme is published, so we describe it as what the abbey has run, not what it will run.
